Fiber, Simply: Getting More Without Overhauling Your Diet

Fiber is one of the few nutrition topics where almost everyone agrees most people could use more of it. The hard part is not the principle, it is doing it without turning every meal into a project.

Add before you subtract

Rather than removing foods, look for places to add. A handful of beans into a soup you already make, fruit alongside breakfast, or swapping half the rice for a whole grain are changes that barely alter the meal.

Go slowly

Increasing fiber quickly can feel uncomfortable, so it is worth building up over a few weeks and keeping water intake up alongside it. If discomfort persists or feels unusual for you, that is a conversation for your physician rather than something to push through.
